I've enjoyed a few lazy and relaxing rides of late. Hopefully another tonight after work. Tomorrow is a public holiday and my mind is planning a small ride. I am just hoping the rain will hold off.
Finally some warmer weather and time to enjoy it. The move is done and I have my weekends back to enjoy relaxing times exploring the new areas around me on my bike.
The new Brompton backpack is still waiting for a really good test. The trial run was a success and I suspect it will do the trick very well. Hoping to use it in Japan soon.
I have plans for a bike to ride from Melbourne to work in Geelong on a semi-regular basis. The first part of the plan have gone as expected the now to the final part - buying the bike. Soon I'll hopefully own a ripper new Kalkhoff bike. This means I will sell the current Kalkhoff I own (Sahel 8). I was not expecting to sell it as I was not at all planning to move. Never say never.
I've had a new package arrive from South Korea this morning and I am looking forward to giving it a test run. Will I take it on my next adventure (Japan again in about two months)? I'm hoping this will work well and make the job of carrying the folded Brompton longer distances more comfortable.
The empty pack itself is a little bit bulkier than I expected but looks to be well made. The padding looks good as it will need to be to protect my back as I walk. It also came with a rain cover and lots of adjustable straps.
I purchased this from eBay after seeing a video on YouTube demonstrating it. I've hurt my back and this means a delay in testing this pack until I am able to handle it. Hopefully only a couple more days.
Last weekend finally coming of stuffing around at the old house. I'll be pleased to finish the move (for now...).
I just came across this interesting idea. One for the new house when it is built?
A beautiful day outside but alas no Brompton ride today - no time. Once home from work, I will give the eBike a quick ride to run down to the bank and then I'm out for dinner. The forecast looks good tomorrow so Brompton time is coming soon before the second last effort to clear the old house. Sooooo close.
Plans for the new way to ride to work are moving forward well. The package from Germany arrived into Australia in <24 hours and it is now stuck somewhere in a sorting facility with Australia Post - typically slow. It has been >24 hours and no movement. I groaned heavilly when I saw it transfer from DHL to Australia Post. This package contains the first part of the solution - more to come.
Well, after a busy weekend of moving I am now a Melbourne resident. Not much time for bike riding over the weekend and the wind on Sunday was far too strong for a long ride. I squeezed a short ride in on Sunday morning which was nice. I had some success finding another option for my bike riding options to work in the future. A shop in the UK might offer a bike that will do the trick for me....more to be reveled soon with luck. In the meantime, I'll drive down each each to work; only a 35 minute drive, not too bad.
Well, the last day of riding to work for sometime has arrived. I battled a rather annoying northerly wind this morning and just for good measure, the wind is going to swing to the south/south west for the return trip. This is in someways rather annoying as it means non-stop head winds both directions, but it is also a good way to end as the head wind has been the main feature of my rides to work over the years.
I am feeling a little disappointed I will not be riding for a while however the view across Corio Bay this morning was lovely and it is warm for a change. I have plans for the future as I have stated before and hopefully next year at some point, I'll make them a reality.
Moving out of the house finally tomorrow. Not a huge amount to do as most stuff is already moved. My weekends are looking much better already! 15 odd years of living in that house drawing to a close. A new chapter starting and I am quite happy to see what comes.
I am hoping to have a ride after work today but I am not hopeful. The on-going rain and strong winds are driving me nuts. We had the second wettest September on record last month! I did have a very enjoyable ride on Sunday and gave my legs a very good test against the very strong northerly winds.
The house move is now very close to finished and soon I'll finally get my weekends back for just normal activities. From this weekend I will no longer be a Geelong resident. I'll still have some work to do around the house for a short time and I will of course still ride in Geelong as time allows; however, a lot of new paths to explore coming up! A change in riding areas is something I am looking forward to. It also means my last rides to work (if weather allows) are also occurring now. I will miss riding to work but in time I hope to come up with a cunning solution to this.
